Chris and Dawn’s Super Geeky Wedding Ceremony

Chris and Dawn share so many interests. Video games, sci-fi, fantasy, books, movies and more played a part in their courtship and in their every-day life together. It was only natural to weave these things throughout their ceremony—especially in their love story.

But how do you reference everything from Doctor Who to Game of Thrones and still have a ceremony that your not-so-geeky friends and family can relate to?

For Dawn and Chris, the answer was to weave in references to the things they loved in a subtle way that was meaningful to them without turning their ceremony into Comicon. After all, as Albus Dumbledore said, “Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.”

We began with a moment of remembrance quoting Gandalf, from Lord of the Rings.

Then, we sprinkled their love story with references to Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter and even Game of Thrones (but not the Red Wedding, don’t worry!)

Dawn and Chris with quote2

We celebrated the significant moments, big and small, in their relationship with words that were significant to them. Then, we introduced their vows with a quote from Doctor Who.

“There are fixed points throughout time where things must stay exactly the way they are. This is not one of them. This is an opportunity! Whatever happens here will create its own timeline, its own reality, a temporal tipping point. The future revolves around you, here, now, so do good!” The Doctor

Chris and Dawn sealed their commitment to each other with the words of Doctor Who’s Amy and Rory, “Together or not at all!”
